Therapy for smokers

Harel Mallac Technologies in collaboration with the non-governmental organisations “Vie et Santé” (ViSa) and  “Omega Santé” have initiated therapeutic sessions for employees wishing and willing to stop smoking. This endeavor is in line with the company’s constant emphasis on employee welfare. 28 employees from both Harel Mallac Technologies and Harel Mallac Bureautique participated in those therapies.

Separate sessions were organized for 2 batches of 14 employees in October and November respectively as follows:

- The therapy started with an introductory session on the Thursday preceeding the week where sessions were to be conducted ;
- This was followed by 5 daily consecutive sessions, from Monday to Friday, from 15h00 to 16h30.

The methods used by the 2 therapists were all organic and natural. Participants were taught and encouraged, for example, to practice specific exercises and adopt new eating habits for a better lifestyle to help them quit smoking completely. A post therapy session was conducted on Thursday of the following week.

As a result, out of the 28 participants, 12 Employees stopped smoking completely, while 2 of them reduced their consumption quite significantly, from about 30 to 4 cigarettes daily.
Due to the success of the therapy, there was a demand from other employees willing to stop smoking to organize other therapeutic sessions for them. This will be done next year.

Fun in the sun for the Technology Arm

The first Technology Arm Fun Day was organised on Saturday 13th November at “Butte à L’herbe” in the northern part of the island. All employees met there.

The day began, at 9.30 a.m and light snacks and refreshments were distributed to all. All those present were then divided into groups of 9 participants named after different colours.

A captain was elected for each group and he/she had the responsibility to divide his/her group into 3 distinct teams as these teams were to participate simultaneously in 3 different activities starting at 10.30 a.m , namely :

• « Chasse aux trésors » : 4 participants ;

• Filling of a questionnaire on general knowledge : 2 participants and ;

• Fun games on the beach: 3 participants.

For the treasure hunt, each team had to locate 6 objects hidden all around the place through coded instructions they had to decode first one at a time.

All activities ended around 1.00 p.m and all had then the opportunity to enjoy a barbecue prepared by a renowned caterer together with accompanying drinks and delicious desserts.

After lunch, there was a free time and the employees left the beach at 3.30 p.m, planning already for our next activity next year.

This initiative was a success, allowing for quality time and bonding between the employees.
