Group Profile
Established since 1830 in the capital city of Port Louis, the Group’s origins date back to the late 1700’s. It was incorporated as a private company in 1956 and is listed on the Stock Exchange since 1991. Today it is one of the longest standing and most important business companies in Mauritius. Over the last few years, the Group has focused on business excellence, employee development, divested from unprofitable activities and embarked on an acquisition mode.
While the nine Strategic Business Units (SBU’s) and many associate companies carry the group towards improved performance, there is a continued emphasis on lean management, strict adherence to the group’s Code of Ethics and stringent quality standards. A proponent of modern business practices, Harel Mallac’s increase in profits over the last couple of years can be credited to the rationalisation of expenses and adoption of best business practices.
